2026 Imagine a Day Without Water
Water powers everyday life — providing safe drinking water, supporting cooking and sanitation, growing food, sustaining parks and natural spaces, enabling local businesses, and helping emergency responders protect our communities. Behind every drop, water professionals operate and maintain the complex systems that keep clean, reliable water flowing, often working around the clock to prevent or resolve service disruptions.
Because most of us rarely consider where water begins its journey, how it reaches our homes and businesses, or where it goes after disappearing down the drain — unless service is interrupted — the Value of Water Campaign sponsors Imagine a Day Without Water each year. On October 15, leaders, utilities, businesses, and community organizations nationwide will highlight how deeply water is woven into everyday life, call attention to the risks posed by aging infrastructure, and encourage public and policymaker support for investment in vital drinking water and wastewater systems.
Water systems are powered not only by the professionals who operate them, but also by community members who conserve water, prevent pollution, learn about local water resources, and support responsible planning and investment. Together, we can safeguard public health, strengthen our communities and local economy, sustain the environment, and ensure reliable water service for generations to come.
Imagine a Day Without Water Art Contest
In honor of this year’s Imagine a Day Without Water campaign, GAWSA is inviting artists ages 5-15 to participate in an exciting art contest celebrating the people who power our water. With multiple age categories and prizes up for grabs, this is a chance to get creative, showcase your talent, and help shine a spotlight on the important work that keeps our communities connected to clean, reliable water.
